Officials from Honda Manufacturing of Alabama presented Talladega College with a 2013 Honda Odyssey on Tuesday during a special ceremony in the parking lot of Sumner Hall.
Talladega College President Dr. Billy C. Hawkins, Talladega Chamber of Commerce Director Jason Daves, Talladega College students, teachers and staff, and HMA officials were all in attendance for the vehicle giveaway.
“We are honored to award Talladega College this 2013 Honda Odyssey,” said Stephanie Alexander, a community relations official for HMA. “We have a deep partnership with Talladega College and are thankful for all of their past support to us as well. We are proud to give them a vehicle that was built in Lincoln, Alabama.”
The Odyssey was awarded to Talladega College through a charitable grant from HMA. College officials noted the school applied for the vehicle grant through a website and specifically requested the Odyssey.
The vehicle’s original listed price was approximately $28,675.00, and up. The college’s Odyssey is a pre-owned Honda executive vehicle.
Talladega College was selected from a pool of 15 applicants, according to HMA officials.
The vehicle will be utilized for multiple purposes at the college, including recruitment visits, student travel and staff conferences. College officials added the Odyssey soon will be adorned with Talladega College branding.
“I just want to say thanks to Honda for always answering our requests, whatever they may be,” Hawkins said, “and for their continued support for Talladega College and its students.”
